About Area D
Area D is rural land around Squamish. It is not part of the District of Squamish, so Area D residents do not vote for Squamish council. They elect their own director to the regional district board instead.
Area D includes:
- the Squamish Valley
- Upper Squamish
- Furry Creek
- Britannia Beach
De Jong will join the regional district board on November 26.
Results in the other areas
The regional district also posted results for its other electoral areas:
- Area A: John Courchesne was elected by a vote.
- Area B: Vivian Birch-Jones was elected by acclamation, which means no vote was needed.
- Area C: Veronica Woodruff was elected by acclamation.
The official results for Area A were declared at the same time as Area D, at 4:00 p.m. on October 20.
