What’s on the agenda

This is the first meeting of the newly elected council. Mayor Easton and six councillors will be sworn in, council will choose who sits on outside boards and approve its 2027 meeting dates, and the mayor will give an opening speech.

  • Mayor Easton and Councillors Andersen, DesJardins, Ellis, Perreault, Prosko and Veltkamp will take their oaths of office and promise to follow council's code of conduct.
For you: These seven people will make decisions for the whole town for the next four years.
  • Council will vote to name which councillors sit on the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District Board (the regional government for the area), along with backup members.
For you: Mayor Easton would hold 5 votes on the regional board and two councillors would hold 4 votes each, speaking for Squamish on regional matters.
  • Council will vote to approve its schedule of regular business meetings for 2027.
For you: Regular meetings would be held at 6 p.m. at Municipal Hall, 37955 Second Avenue, usually on the first and third Tuesdays, with no meetings in August and only one in September.
  • Council will vote to choose which councillors serve as acting mayor (who fills in when the mayor is away) for each month from November 2026 to December 2027.
  • Council will vote to name councillors to the Squamish Library Board, the Community Forest Board and the Land Back Task Force until the end of 2027.
  • Mayor Easton will give his opening speech, and councillors will make their own remarks.
  • The mayor and each councillor may invite one community member to speak to council for up to three minutes.

Have your say

The swearing in meeting is ceremonial. There is no question period and no letters on the agenda. To raise something with the new council, write to council@squamish.ca after November 3. Letters sent before then go to the outgoing council.

Watch. Live and afterward on the District’s YouTube channel.

How to watch or speak at a meeting

Go in person: meetings are open to anyone at Council Chambers, Municipal Hall, 37955 Second Avenue. You don’t need to sign up to watch. Watch from home: meetings are streamed live on the District’s YouTube channel and stay there afterward. Each meeting below links to its own video.

Have your say: you can write to council before a meeting, or speak at a public hearing. The District explains how on its council page.
