Long-time climbing and outdoor-access figure: past president/chair of Mountain Equipment Co-operative, past president of the BC Mountaineering Club, founder and long-time president of the Climbers' Access Society of BC, and involved in the creation of Stawamus Chief Provincial Park. Says he has climbed, hiked and done stewardship in the Smoke Bluffs since 1974; in 2025 he instigated the creation of Baldwin & Cooper Park in Skyridge.
